Battersea Power Station, London
As specialist hotel architects, ReardonSmith worked collaboratively with
Arup Associates to develop hotel schemes for Battersea Power Station that
would be contemporary in design yet sensitive to existing historical structures.
The challenge was not only to unite two 5 star hotels with the existing
listed building but also to design hotels that would operate successfully
within the overall master plan. One of the hotels was to be an 'urban
resort hotel'; the other was planned to offer extensive facilities for
meetings and conferences as well as one of the largest ballrooms in Europe.
