Sensitive architectural refurbishment increased building’s value and revenue generation opportunities
ReardonSmith enjoyed a long relationship with the Savoy Group, managing architectural refurbishments requiring the most sensitive handling of heritage issues. For example, the Practice re–planned and restored the ground floor public areas of The Connaught to enhance the 'accessibility' of the space and increase revenue–generating opportunities.
In addition, ReardonSmith captured under–utilised loft space for the creation of a new fitness studio and three additional keys, introducing a cantilevered walkway at 5th floor level to connect these rooms with the rest of the hotel.
The Practice also designed a scheme to transform the American Bar by opening it onto the street by way of a pavement terrace.
