Marriott Hanbury Manor
In gaining consent for a 65-room extension and new gatehouse entrance at Marriott Hanbury Manor, ReardonSmith had to counter a number of issues. The original property was Grade II*, in listed parkland within an historic garden and all within London's greenbelt. The solution was a fine balance between respect for historic precedent, contemporary expectations and operational realities resulting in an extension which, while recognisably within a modern vernacular, sits comfortably with its older neighbours.
