Hotel planning within a mixed-use development
ReardonSmith acted as IHG's hotel planning consultants on the new InterContinental Moscow – Tverskaya, which opened in November 2011. Consent had already been gained for a mixed–use development comprising offices and retail as well as 15 floors of hotel on Tverskaya, one of Moscow's most prominent thoroughfares, near to the Kremlin and Red Square. Taking the existing hotel plan, ReardonSmith prepared co–ordinated detail design schemes, taking the hotel from the envelope inwards and ensuring that the final scheme was operationally sound, stood to generate maximum revenue and met with InterContinental Hotels' world–class standards.
In the public areas front–of–house, work focused on bringing an impressive sense of arrival to the hotel, adding an ingredient of architectural drama to the spaces. Careful planning of the guest floors, succeeded in achieving 203 well–sized guestrooms including a number of luxury suites. The project also included the planning of back–of–house areas and addressed the all–important relationship between front and back–of–house demises.
