New Resort Hotel and Spa, Dubai
One of ReardonSmith's recent schemes has been the design of a 300-guestroom resort with extensive spa and conference facilities for a 50,000 sq metre site on Palm Island in Dubai.
The concept envisages a massing of the buildings along the highway, with an imposing monolithic hotel building looking out to the surrounding sea. From here, the buildings cascade down to the sea edge with clusters of guestroom villas enfolded within the resort's verdant landscape. Since guests will arrive by boat as well as car, ReardonSmith has driven a canal from the sea to the Hotel forming a central spine through the site with meandering tributaries on each side. The spa has been designed to be a sanctuary of rest and relaxation with careful segregation of activities within and 20 dedicated suites for guests seeking the total spa experience.
