Hotel “Pekin”,
Moscow
Planning to create a world class hotel and conference venue
Built during the 1940s, Hotel “Pekin” is one of the most famous hotels in Moscow. As one of the most impressive hotels in the city, its mid-Twentieth Century significance may be guessed at by its soaring neo-classical architecture and its prominent position in Triumphalnaya Square in central Moscow.
ReardonSmith has developed two options to refurbish and extend the property, one to a four-star, and the other to a five-star international level, and is now working with the client in the presentation of these to leading operators. A large, un-used courtyard behind the L-shaped building provides land to extend the building into one of Moscow’s premier destination hotels. The plan is to add extensive conference and banqueting facilities, a luxury spa and a fitness centre, and to increase the number of guestrooms to 350 keys, as well as to achieve 10 new storeys of branded serviced apartments. Both schemes include the restoration of the historic parts of the building, including the Pekin Restaurant which was once the haunt of the Soviet nomenklatura.
